Back in the fall of 2004, while visiting my brother’s family in Maryland, I noticed my nephew, Shippen, wearing a very familiar looking belt. When I asked him where he had gotten it, he replied “I found it in the attic, in a box of old belts of my dad’s.” I began to laugh and said “I made that for your dad over 34 years ago!” I guess “preppy” never really goes out of style! That Christmas I decided to make similar belts for family and friends.
A close friend of mine owns a handbag business (check out her website at www.kateandsara.com), and she suggested that I should start a business making and selling woven ribbon belts. After pondering the idea I decided to give it a try. In March of 2005 Candi Belts became a reality. The rest as they say is history!
In the meantime, we have added a few more products to the Candi Belts line. We now have notepads, headbands and sandals that all mirror the belts. We have also included Bag Tags, great for spotting your luggage or golf bag!
